Released in 1978, Buffalo Rider(Trailer) was a "feature-length exercise in padding out a movie’s running time as much as possible". But in another way, it was also about a guy on a buffalo(Full Movie, If You Dare). Decades later, Austin's The Possum Posse would retell the epic saga of the guy on a buffalo with the series, Guy On a Buffalo:
Episode 1 (Bears, Indians & Such)
Episode 2 (Orphans, Cougars & What Not)
Episode 3 Finale Part 1 (Origins, Villains & The Like)
Episode 4 Finale Part 2 (Rehab, Vengeance & What Have You)

The first two episodes were previously posted in 2011, but now we have the thrilling two-part finale!

my love of all things buffalo

Then you may like Bailey and Bailey II, the domesticated bison of Alberta. Unless you aren't into the domesticating thing, in which case, please disregard!

Episode 2 remains one of my favorite Youtube things ever. "Hey what's this in the weeds, it's a baby! Awesome!" and "Cheaper than adoption!" are commonly tossed around my household as well.

This is one of things I return to when I need something uplifiting.
Today was one of those days. Thanks.

And . . . I mean the songs, not the movie.
The movie was . . . tiring.
But not the same kind of tiring as the songs because those were tiring from laughing so much.
Man, the movie sucks.

I watched this back in April and it still sometimes just pops in my head, so it's a bit of an earworm.

Love the Possum Posse stuff since they first released it, but I've always wondered what the original source show/movie was—thanks for the info!

I believe this is the same movie that Rifftrax has riffed in its entirety: Buffalo Rider. I have not seen it yet, though.

BISON. Guy on a BISON. It's a bisonIt is not a buffalo

I hear you and I don't disagree, but unless you're champing at the bit to run the gantlet of internet scorn, known to the world as "that guy," you may have to let this one go.

Wikipedia suggests:

Though the name "Bison" might be considered to be more scientifically correct[by whom?], as a result of standard usage the name "Buffalo" is also considered correct and is listed in many dictionaries as an acceptable name for American Buffalo or bison. In reference to this animal, the term "buffalo", dates to 1625 in North American usage when the term was first recorded for the American mammal. It thus has a much longer history than the term "bison", which was first recorded in 1774

My suggestion is to find a way to make peace with this. I went through something similar with people saying "Frankenstein" when they obviously meant the monster. I dealt with this by embracing the plural. As in,"I was on my way home, but I ran into a bunch of Frankensteins and you know how much they like to party. I'm sorry I'm so late." But whatever works best for you.

That, my friend, is a guy on a buffalo.

Ain't common names for species a bitch? I say bison & canadian goose, you say buffalo & canada goose. As long as we both understand that we're both talking about bison bison & branta canadensis, I think we're good.

The difference is: you can't wash your hands in a buffalo. I thought everyone knew that.

I couldn't find a sink with a bison shaped basin, but I did find this.

Someone needs to alert Stephen Colbert about this technique for dealing with bears.

Sigh. Point(s) taken. I know I can't win the battle...but living in Montana, it's soooooo hard not to at least try.

And I'll admit - "Guy On A Bison" doesn't quite have the same ring as "Guy On A Buffalo" - just doesn't have the same cadence.

I put 'bison' in the tags when I made the post. Was going to put YesIKnowItsBisonWhatever but thought that would be too passive-aggressive.

The rifftrax verison of Buffalo Rider is well worth watching (if you appreciate great cinema like Santa and the Icecream Bunny and Birdemic). "It's me! Part-time Narrator!" and "the adventure of a lifetime" as a euphemism for "horrifying mortal peril" have become part of our household lexicon.
