Tilda Swinton: Action Heroine Who’s next among alabaster-complected redhead action heroines – Julianne Moore? “In the end, what ensures our fixation on the screen is Tilda, Tilda, Tilda. Has she been pumping iron or what? Previously known for her glacial composure, here she’s virtually an action hero”

I heart Tilda Swinton.

If you've seen the movie, save for a small fight sequence, she's hardly an action hero (or heroine, if you prefer). But regardless, I also heart any attention paid to Tilda Tilda Tilda and The Deep End.

It's too bad we don't see her in more films. Her turn in "Vanilla Sky" was a turn too brief.

I had no idea Tilda Swinton had a following. I thought I was the only one!

I thought The Deep End was one of the worst films I saw this year. Swinton was good, but the story was laughable. The "I won't talk no matter what" mantra of all the characters was agonizing and didn't work for me. Remember, if you're going to hide a body in Lake Tahoe, dump it in the deep end, not a shallow yet scenic inlet.

I'm a little bit confused about the timing of this link (although both Tilda and the film are terrific). Is The Deep End about to come out on DVD? A boy can dream.

Oh, and joeclark: Perhaps you missed Assassins, Jurassic Park II, or Hannibal? You'd be forgiven; None of them seems very good--but I think they offer conclusive proof that Julianne Moore is already something of an action hero. Heh.

tilda swinton is the star of the absolute worst movie i've ever seen: conceiving ada.

don't EVEN get me started. it was worse than the next best thing. it's the movie by which i judge all bad movies.

i don't heart tilda swinton one bit.

She was great in Orlando, the only thing that made that mess watchable. After she spent all those years mainly being the perfect anti-actress for Derek Jarman, The Deep End was a total 180-degree change of direction. I read some interviews with her at the time, and even she couldn't really articulate why she was doing a role that was so discordant with everything she'd done up until then, except that Jarman was dead and she wanted to see what would happen next.

Nobody has mentioned Female Perversions, a good film which I think I'm one of three people to have seen in the theater.

I liked The Deep End, and I liked Orlando, even though as political commentary it doesn't really work.

But Tilda has also done The Beach and, as someone mentioned, Vanilla Sky, which was just ridiculous. But I suppose she has to eat.
