All Always Was is a hip hop video by historian himself. You can download his album Earth Beasts Awaken. Its all quite beautiful.

I'm not a huge fan of the linked song, mostly because he seems to be disrupting his flow too much to get in the words he wants. He's got a great voice though, and I'm definitely going to download the rest of the album.

What I really wanted to say though is goddam, check out the attention to detail in this awesome dinosaur sculpting time lapse for his next music video.

This has a real Aesop Rock feel at that beginning, but by the end it's like a more melodic Frog Eyes or something. Anyway, I dig it.

yeah, I also thought Aesop Rock; god I am so happy that hip hop is finally returning to its artsy slam-poetry roots

I got a cLOUDDEAD feel off of this. That's a good thing.

I don't think slam poetry is the roots of hip hop, but a scion that sprouted in the early 1990s, from the conscious hip hop efforts, and has existed alongside the mainstream styles since then. Aesop hasn't gone anywhere, and there's the whole Strange Famous label/crew.
