Logo Mashups mixed famous brand names with somebody else's famous logo. Some were subtle, others obvious, some ingenious, other hilarious and some that will change the way you look at a logo forever. And then there's the simple mashing of two brand names together for the merger that must never happen.

There's a throwaway line in one of the Callahans' Crosstime Saloon books when someone comes up with a scary idea for a merger: "F.B.I.B.M."

Given federal (U.S.) backdoors and corporate collusion, that one's probably already happened, EC. (Although there's some potential good news on that front.)

Back on topic... I was kind of hoping for more pointed commentary in the logo hybrids rather than just visual puns, but the one at the "Must never happen" link made me laugh in spite of myself.

F.B.I.B.M.

Is that what happens when J. Edgar goes potty?

FBIBM.

Often working closely with the MSNSA.

Is it scary that I finding just about all of them so normal looking, despite knowing that they're mashed up?

Yeah, I was thinking mash up, and instead, it's mostly just juxtaposition of famous brand next to famous brand, not even on the FBIBM level EmpressCallipygos mentioned.

It took me a minute to realize the Crocs one was not just the actual Crocs logo.

Here are some ingenious mashups of sports logos that are a bit more mashuppy than these juxtapositions.

The Wikipedia/Star Wars one wasn't all that funny, probably because it was better with AT&T.

The great thinkers/ band logos mashups are the best, though.

There are quite a few of these I don't understand at all: Banana Republic / Atari? Or Canon/Adidas? Or Allianz/Android? Or Flickr/CBS? Is there a subtle joke I'm missing?

Or an obvious one? That'd be fine too

It's more of a visual-pun thing than being conceptually about the companies themselves. Like, say, the Banana Republic/Atari one is because "hee hee the Atari logo has curved bits in it that look like bananas".

Banana Republic / Atari?
Looks like three bananas -- a small republic of bananas.

Or Canon/Adidas?
Looks like three cannons in a row, all pointed up to the left

Or Allianz/Android?
Looks like an Alien (allianz)

Or Flickr/CBS?
Looks like an eye or camera lens blinking/flickering.

I love these. They are all wonderful.

(My favorite is the Gerbers/Gucci mashup.)

(Also Kohler, cause it looks like a top view of a toilet flushing.)

And better with Bloom County.

Didn't they name her North West?

Like Fairchild Semiconductor and Honeywell International to become Fairwell Honeychild.

I had to look at the tags here before I could place the Dove mashed with the Twitter text.

Very convincing-looking combinations.

AT&T employees of my acquaintance actually call their employer the Death Star in conversation.

Actually the way I look at the Toyota logo already changed forever when I realized that you could use it to make every (Roman capital) letter in the name by just erasing a line here or there, as if the letters were stylized and then all superimposed on one another. TOYOTA. Try it. It's way cooler than the Jockey thing.

Consider this vintage T-shirt, the multicolored letters a bit reminiscent of a competitor's logo. Now imagine them merged. Yeah, laugh at "Goople"--while you can.
