Is there a cat version of this where the cat just ignores you and walks away because you want to give it scritchies and lick your finger?

That video, jessamyn, reminds me of the serious irritating damage Shepherd and I could do if we had a musical bone in our bodies. As it is, there are many renditions of popular songs involving our cats that go unheard.

We have one song we sing to our cat.

It just goes, "Mr. Pudding, CHA CHA CHA. Mr. Pudding, CHA CHA CHA."

You probably have to be there.

No, probably even if you're there it's kind of messed up.

So . . . we're not the only ones who have individual theme songs for our cats? *WHEW*

(i can't believe i am doing this)

Uh, our youngest cat Moxie Parker (aka Pooper, aka Chubby Cat) loves having her fur brushed. Demands a brushing every night. So last year we revamped the lyrics to a popular song for that desire:

"Hey I just met you
And this is crazy
But here's my hairbrush
So brush me maybe?"

Oh my god kitteh. I'm totally singing that to my dog tonight.
posted by Sophie1 at 10:14 AM on October 8, 2013

I am glad that we can all talk about this and get it out in the open. I mean, I was even completely lying when I said "we have one song we sing to our cat" - we have two cats and two dogs, and you better fucking believe each one has at least one song we sing.

The funny part, Kitteh - is one of them is absolutely a play on "Call Me, Maybe" - so I guess something about that song feeds into this particular neurosis?

HE'S DOING IT AGAIN. THE SNOUT-NOSED ONE.
He'll never break the wall. Go on about your mission.

NO, HE'S ADAMANT THIS TIME. THE LICKING CONTINUES APACE.
There is no reason to fear. Please return to your post.

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! HE DOESN'T BLINK! HE DOESN'T EVER CEASE.
Enough. The barrier will hol - oh God, no. No. NOOOOOOOOOO!

My 18-month-old boy does this to the glass window on the storm door. It's a wonderful thing to come home to.

So . . . we're not the only ones who have individual theme songs for our cats?

Early on in my last apartment, I came home from work once to find my then-roommate very enthusiastically singing the Dreidel song to my cat. He had no explanation. Zach just looked faintly confused. I never learned whether that was a one-off or a regular occurrence.

I'm not grossed out by doggy licks IRL, but I have to agree with you. I think it's mostly the thick swaths of saliva that coat the screen in the wake of his tongue. (Plus, the title of the post is just... ugh.)

Moxie Parker tends to get pop songs, Drusilla gets more operatic themes, and Picasso gets blues. It all corresponds to their insane little personalities.

If this were an accurate representation of reality, your cursor would become a Q-tip so you could cleanse the flews whilst he licks.
