This is one of those games where you can say "I'm deeply embarrassed by my score" and nobody can know for sure if you did well or poorly.

I didn't recognize about a third of those company names.

Can we get the icon in cornflower blue?

It's a rather small list:

AOL, Atlassian, Behance, Delicious, Dell, Disqus, Dropbox, Drupal, Engadget, Facebook, Flickr, Foursquare, IBM, Instagram, Intel, LinkedIn, Nokia, Pinboard, Rdio, Salesforce, Samsung, Skype, Stripe, Tumblr, Twitter, Vimeo, and WordPress

And misses two companies that I know of personally (one being Metafilter of course) that have a specific blue color.

The quiz featured many blues but not THE blue. #069 forever!

That was utterly soul-destroying, whichever way I tried to look at it.

Anybody get to the end of it? It reminds me of one of those old psych experiments where the whole point is to see how long it takes for the subject to get exasperated with the length of the session.

Was I the only person that found it too boring to complete?

You can complete it? Yeah, boring.

Anybody remember TheSpark's IQ test? (Remember back when TheSpark had quizzes and purity tests and stuff?)

I've done very poorly in this.

Yeah, I think it just goes forever. But if the list is that small there's only 702 pairings to ask about. Which I guess means there's 1404 different ways it could ask them.

After about 30 I started getting some really weird perceptual effects watching it shift between blues. I couldn't tell any more if the blues were greeny or how saturated they were.

I am calling Blue Blue.

'S all marketing...

I think the only thing worse than corporate blue is corporate green. It's gotten to the point where half of the apps on my phone have nearly identical-looking icons in very nearly the same shade of green.

I was wondering if you could choose wrong on this... Until I got my first wrong answer, then I stopped. 11/12.

Indeed, I'm not proud of this at all.

I could not possibly agree with you more. I'm constantly tripping up between evernote, spotify, my twitter app (janetter), and others.

I got about 30 in (and 29) right, before seriously beginning to question what I was doing with my life, currently, and also what I had been doing with my life previously.

I do like blue though.

15/16 before I got bored. Felt like cheating though because 5 of them were foursquare.

Don't forget the denizens of the blue wedge in the Cartoon Characters Color Wheel...

Smurf or Genie or Sonic or Dory or Captain Planet or Huckleberry Hound???

Well there really needs to be a monitor calibration step prior to the start of the "game", that being said I'm quite proud of my 6/13 but embarrassed that I lasted that long.

I just did this, and Metafilter was listed. I won't say whether I got it right - I may have been overblued at the time. I think maybe the owner of the site picked up on the link here... ?

It showed me metafilter blue and I got it right! I will claim what small victory I can, since my success rate on the rest was less than 50%.

No Yves Klein blue

I should hope not, since it can't be displayed properly on a monitor via RGB values.

Man, I really shouldn't be so excited over getting Tumblr blue perfect each time.

I think that tells me what I shouldn't be spending so much time on.

Oh, sweet mother of crap. I got etaFilter wrong the first time. I'll blame the professional white background on that. Even so - I don't understand the point. How many colors are there? How many companies are there? So a bunch of companies use some form of blue? Well, I'm shocked.

Did nobody else notice the message at the bottom of the screen after five rounds... "Want more than blue?" that, when clicked, brings up rounds comparing reds, greens, oranges, pinks and purples (it's true, Yahoo! is not the only purple!)

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for playing Name That Blue. I'm overwhelmed by the response it's had, especially from the MetaFilter crowd.

I apologise for not having #069 in the game when it launched. I quickly added it when I saw how disappointed you were!

If you want more of a challenge, try the new variation, Blue That Name. Bonus points if you can guess what the game is from reading the name.

It's at: http://colin-gourlay.com/bluethatname/

Enjoy! Thanks again for playing.

For some reason, picking the color to go with the name is much easier, for me at least.

I've given the game a new home on the internet. You'll get redirected from the old URL automatically, but here's a clickable link anyway: http://namethatblue.com

If you're feeling the need to procrastinate some more, a couple of new challenges will appear in the game at 7am PST (little over an hour). I'd love to know what you think.
