For eight hours a day to Oct. 13, Facebook and Twitter users can log on to the Melbourne Remote Control Tourist website and "control" two volunteer explorers with helmet-mounted streaming video cameras. Users can check out the explorers' Instagram feeds, track their locations using Google Maps or FourSquare and ask them (via a tweet or Facebook) to visit certain places, check things out or even sing a song. via adage

Tourism Victoria has launched a AU$3.6 million digital campaign for Melbourne that will be widely copied, likely mocked, and morphed in various ways as Google Glass and other wearables become a more mainstream reality.

Does Melbourne’s ‘Remote Control Tourist’ Show the Potential of Wearables in Tourism ? Or is it just really bad live TV ?

I saw them both of them yesterday. They looked hot, sweaty and flustered, so a perfect representation I guess. I also saw a couple of the places they visited in the CBD and there were notes up on those places saying "there will be filming here today" so maybe they aren't quite as "remote control" as we are led to believe.

Wow that was tiring to watch. But woo, Melbourne must be foodie heaven, hole in the wall cafe had one night a week desert chef night. Three deserts plus a 'tube' which was a jelly with walnuts and brownie in a single 'suck' tube.
