16/20. Not too shabby. I also own half of these things - the IKEA stuff, not the metal bands.

17/20 of the ikea ones... probably 85% are things i have in my house. and i've heard of 2 of the bands. not sure if i'm proud or appalled. regardless, i was totally entertained for almost 71 seconds!!!

I missed Drudkh which was dumb, I realized it as soon as I clicked on the thing.

I'm not much of a True Grimdark Extreme Black Metal fan, and I'm not even sure I know anyone who is anymore, but are these bands moderately well known outside metal circles?

Because I am suddenly all depressed than I recognised the Lack over the guy who performs covered in blood. It made me feel old.

I got 15/20. I have not been to Ikea, and I have not listened to Black Metal. I suspect after this that I will for sure never do either one.

I got 16/20, and the only IKEA item I own that I saw on the list was the Lack, the coffee table that they issue to all Americans when they start college.

No.

Are they known inside metal circles?

(What about wood circles? Borromean rings? Hula hoops?)

OK, right away, question one is Absu an IKEA product or a death metal band – neither. It is a black metal band.

17/20. I guess it was worth it for the image at the end of the black metal IKEA stockboy.

19/20. I have a lot of IKEA furniture. Yes, the Samspelt ruined my perfect score. I think I need to buy one now.

It's a pity that 'INVERTED PENTAGRAM' (U+26E7) doesn't seem to have widespread font support yet.

18/20. I am the type of person who refers to her ikea products by name, so I'm slightly disappointed in myself.

18/20. I'm a little disappointed as a fan of black metal and Ikea. Curse you, Nortt!

10/20, not sure what that means but viking death metal all covered in blood? I thought the folks up with the gnomes were nice kind folk? Oh my!

I'm pretty neutral about the Istore but I think I need a Samspelt for purely eponistarical reasons.
posted by sammyo at 8:19 AM on October 10, 2013

Nortt is so boring anyway. I wish they had been a deer shaped bedroom decoration instead.

Yeah, being able to speak Swedish makes this kind of challenge trivial. No way is any metal band going to name themselves after Vittsjö.

I found a glitch when I guessed incorrectly on Akercocke. It gave me credit but still described them as the other choice.

Apparently my ignorance the intricacies of death metal is only matched by my unfamiliarity with IKEA's homewares catalogue.

Böllöks to that.

But there is a metal band called Lack! (Okay, arguably more hardcore or metalcore.) There are actually at least two: the American Lack (not metal) and the Danish Lack.

11/20. Whatever.

14/20, by the simple expedient of picking at random unless part of the name sounded like a German word for something evil/satanic/spooky. (Caveat: must know some German for this to work.)

Or Lack. I have one of those.

There's a standing lamp named NOT, with some assembly required.

We followed the instructions and arrived at the last page, which was a drawing of the lamp exactly as ours with the word NOT. We scratched our heads for a while trying to figure out where we had screwed up.
