Philadelphia bar refuses show Eagles games as long as Michael Vick is on team. "Because of what Michael Vick has done to those animals, I can't in good conscience support the Eagles while he's a member of the team," Doobies owner Patty Brett said. "He murdered and tortured animals and I can't forgive him for that." Her anger dates back to 2007, when Vick, a Falcons player at the time, pleaded guilty to federal felony charges implicating him in a dogfighting ring. After spending months in prison and having his suspension from the NFL lifted, he joined the Eagles in 2009. posted by MisantropicPainforest (7 comments total)

This post was deleted for the following reason: We've talked about Vick a lot in the past and it's hard to see how this amounts to a significant new development beyond the one bar's boycott. Just doesn't seem like a uniquely interesting thing on the web nor a discussion we're dying to have, to be honest. -- goodnewsfortheinsane

This post is like one of those Onion articles where they zero in on some hyperlocal non-news and cover it as though it were a breaking story. But it's usually funny when The Onion does it.

He did time, paid fines, apologized. Beating him up forever over his previous actions isn't helpful. But whatever, it's her business and tv.

Good point.

Ten home losses in a row I think is enough to keep most bars in Philadelphia from showing the Eagles.

I know this will probably get me kicked out of town, but I will have a hard time cheering for the Steelers as long as Ben Roethlisberger is on the team.

From the WaPo: Saving Michael Vick's Dogs.

So great that for many of the dogs, there was a happy ending.

My wife hates the fact that I cheer for the Eagles with Michael Vick on the team.

It's weird that this is being covered when it's inching ever closer to being a nonissue. Vick is clearly too injury-prone to continue to play in the NFL; a running quarterback who can't run is not a viable player. (Fans of the Washington team should note this.)
