State government run amuck -- I'm usually proud to be from Jersey, but what's been going on in Trenton recently with lawsuits to stop acting governors from signing spending bills that the budget can't handle is nothing compared to what's going to happen in January. . . A couple of 2-day governors (one from each party) are going to have their way with the state house, governor's mansions, stationery, and POLITICAL APPOINTEES. . . . A POX ON BOTH THEIR HOUSES!

Uh...Did you say you're normally proud to be from New Jersey?

I'm proud to be from New Jersey. But they never covered that stuff in political science class. Wonder if that's ever happened anywhere else.

The audience for local Jersey politics on MeFi is pretty slim. However, this is a curious story in that New Jersey will have 4 diffrent governors in 1 month due to a quirk in its law. Now, that wouldnt be so bad except it seems at least one of the 1-week wonders is going to suck it for all its worth staying in the mansions, cutting stationary, makeing deals etc.. as fpatrick says .. IMO its a rape of the office and public trust and these 1-week idiots should be banned from future public service.

State governments are often overlooked by the American media. There's an on-line resource now: StateLine.org.

I'm from New Jersey too. I hope they do something great that would normally hurt their political careers, like legalize marijuana.

I'm proud to be from New Jersey. You got a problem with that?

Suddenly I understand why some states (NY, for example) have lieutenant governors, a job that most of the time could be adequately filled by a Teletubby toy.
