cats can wear stockings

Meowfit of the day is one of the strangest sites I've seen in some time. I have no idea how these people got their cats wedged into their hosiery, or why.

I am officially not in favour of this meme because it is so visually weird. It's like a cat had sex with a muppet and had a weird hybrid baby.

Welp, there's my WTF quota filled for today, I can turn off the internet now and go do something useful.

Seems to be a spin-off a Chinese meme involving dogs.

I know I'm not the only one who finds this incredibly arousing.

Anyone?

There's something about this that I find like visually repulsive. Like I look at them and think they're incredibly, viscerally gross, despite there being nothing about them to take exception to. Odd.

Animals in clothing almost always does this to me, to be honest, but this - and the dogs in pantyhose thing - takes it into quasi-uncanny valley territory. It gives me the heebee-jeebees.

Well, not me, because right now I realized something which I didn't before: that an aspect of utmost importance about long beautiful legs is that they consist of two straight bits with a knee in the middle.

Cats in little teeny hats or ties or sweaters I find adorable- I've seen a cute picture of zoomorphic's cat looking very annoyed to be wearing a kitty-sized hoodie. Just this bugs the hell out of me.

Why would you do this to kitty?

I think one of the reasons I'm more of a dog person is that dogs are (on aggregate) wonderfully unself-conscious, and remind you not to take yourself too seriously. Cats, on the other hand, seem (again, on aggregate) to insist on conducting themselves with a pompous dignity, especially fat indoor cats. So it's kind of great when someone's goofy little project involves anything which undercuts that. The only downside is that the cats here seem pretty cool with it, so you miss out on when they have that look like, "WHAT'S ALL THIS?! WHY, I NEVER -- THERE'LL BE A LETTER IN THE TIMES ABOUT THIS!"

Yes, animals in costumes are generally hilarious, especially when they have an air of longsuffering tolerance about them. But there is just something really unsettling about the tights thing.

Am I the only one who thinks that if cats were to evolve opposable thumbs, they would, alone among all species, only use them for snapping fingers at humans?

I was semi-ok with this until the one where the guy was laying with cat stretched out beside him. Then I got to thinking not good thoughts about where that was going.

I agree with FAMOUS MONSTER. As a proud cat-owner, it's sometimes fun to do goofy things to them because of their air of feline superiority--except Chubby Cat, who is as derpy as they come and contains no dignity within her calico shell whatsoever.

I could do that with my cat. As long as I didn't mind losing a few hunks of my arm.

I think you're supposed to take them off before you put the cat in them.

Pope Guilty: Kitty-sized hoodie?! WHERE?

I've been looking for such a thing forever, but don't feel crafty enough to create any such thing.

Never before has a cat's default "fuck you" face been so apt.

Also this one is tagged nsfw which is just.... *full body shudder*

I think the cat allows it because he knows how wrong it is.

Did you notice that sometimes the placement of the cats feet makes it look like the noodle legged thing that should not be has a substantial package?

I did.

Well guys I have to go take a shower FOREVER

I know I'm not the only one who finds this incredibly arousing.

*sighs*
Must we pander to this sort of perversion?

I'ma so disappoint. Cats in stockings, no. Cats in socks, yes.
Cats wearing socks is proof of a benign force for good in nature.

Here's the gospel, direct from Yahoo answers:

Why do cats wear socks?

"Because when iccle biccle kitties are born, and they first look at their paws, they say to themselves "Alas! I am a feline, without thumbs my plans for world domination are ruined!!!! I shall have to spend my life sat on the laps of other evil geniuses while they stroke me and speak sinisterly. CRUEL FATE!!! WHY HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME????!!!!!!" . . . . . so they wear socks to cover their shame, they did this so much that eventually evolution made it fuse with their genetic code and that is why most cats appear to be wearing socks . . . . as humans, we find it adorable. "

Cats who chew holes in socks, NO! *lookin' at you, Dr. Steve Orange Cat*

What kind of drugs do people have to give their cats for the cats to allow such behavior?

I'm sorry but asking for advice on how to drug your cats for this type of thing just crosses the line.

Keep that stuff to AskMetafilter.

This is true. My two cats are very active, trim, and fairly ridiculous but they still have an air of seriousface pretty much all the time. Once the bigger one got partially caught in a paper bag, and he shuffled himself over to me, just sat down in front of me and totally had this look on his face that said "Ahem. You see the problem. I am in quite a scrape. Please fix immediately and let's never speak of it again." Most dogs would wimper, try to bite it off, etc. Cats are like, "human, address this problem."

FWIW I'm Team Cats and Team Dogs, just different fun.

genmonster, I clicked on the coffeemaker blog and got as far as the Testikeltacos! post and now I am just chortling about Testikeltacos! No, Chrome, I do not want to translate this page that is in Swedish.

Also the dogs in pantyhose thing is a dozen times creepier looking to me. This cat in tights is like a sock monkey gone awry, but with the right pair of tights (polka dots? rainbow stripes?) can edge onto the cute side of the cute / WTF continuum. Me thinks.

You really should translate the coffeemaker blog. You are missing comedy gold. Quotes such as:

It was very educational to dissect the testicles, I never knew it would result in such lovely testicle fillets!

and

Gucci is photobombing in the foreground while shitZappa inspects the lovely vase I made from a fish-head. Nice huh?
