GenjiandProust: "He looks a lot less grimdark"

On the other hand, parts of Rio are as grim as it gets (though possibly not as dark).

I have a hard time not reading "grimdark" as "gridmark". Actually it's impossible for me. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Uma mistura crua de perfomance, quadrinhos e arte de rua.

There is no better mixture in the world. I have zero interest in the Batman movies but I would watch this.

Translation:

Bruce Wayne Do Santos. Ex-millionaire. Ex-owner of underground estates. Ex-superfriend. Dismissed, homeless, landless. Wandering the city of Rio. A raw mixture of performance, comics, and street art.

This photo in particular made me look up "Xuxa," and now I feel like there is this parallel universe where people are extremely rich and famous and I've never even remotely heard of them. I wonder what the book's about!

Say what you will about The New 52, you can't accuse them of simply being a re-tread of old ideas.

Some context: Because of the World Cup and Olympics, a lot of poor people are being evicted in Rio, their neighborhoods bulldozed to make parking lots for soccer stadiums. The Poor Batman is an artist/activist who's always there protesting this. His facebook. Aldeia MaracanĂ£, his non-action movie.

More about forced evictions.
The fight against the Vila Autodromo evictions have been going on since 2010.
