What's the rest of the place look like?

Wow. It really does look amazing, but it would be even better if it didn't lose tons of the functionality by obstructing the screen or the keyboard...

That reminds me of a set of requirements I once got for a web app from a first-time UX designer.

It looks like the chemical processing plants and refineries I drive past when I go from Houston to Baytown. Needs a "XX DAYS SINCE A LOST-TIME ACCIDENT" sign somewhere.

but what are the machine specs???

Surely it's there. I refuse to believe there are things that case mod does not include.

but what are the machine specs???

Me and the wife were laughing that based on the case build time the machine is at least 18 months out of date. Probably more.

This is what happens when you collect toys and then wish they would come to life.

It doesn't look all that great, but at least it doesn't obstruct the screen or the keyboard.

I'm glad I went console-only for my gaming, to get off the endless Nazi upgrade cycle. SSLI is cool and all, but it can really empty the wallet.

The screen and keyboard obstructions are trivial impediments. The biggest threat to the UX is the fact he's using McAfee software. That'll not end well.

I don't understand the whole "case mod" thing. It's really just building decorative sculptures and stuffing computers inside them, right? I mean, the piece that this post links to -- how much less impressive would it be if the monitor/tower were made from cardboard boxes?

I mean, I could take a giant model railroad set with dozens of working trains and hundreds of scale buildings, cars, and trees, stick a motherboard in the middle of the whole thing, and it seems like that'd be a "case mod".

I would love for that kind of "stick a mini itx board in a random object" case modding to take off. Computer in a teddy bear! Computer in a ficus! Computer in a roasted turkey! Case mods!

Also: if you take an empty building and connect up bare computer parts in it, does it count as a case? What if you hook up USB, power cord and HDMI ports so they're on the building's exterior? A little monitor on the roof, keyboard and mouse on the front step.

A giraffe-friendly case mod?

It's an amazing diorama. He's far too busy with it to need much computing power. Thanks for posting.

Yes. Finally justification for owning a house.

I'm pretty sure that the USB mods he did would actually sell. The one here could probably pass litmus tests for both the avid steam punk and the casual star wars fans.
