Oh man, Thrasher magazine and Tompkins Square, I've gone back in time to my misspent youth.

Tanks for posting this.

As a spectator, there's a big uncanny valley between the ages of 20 and 60 where I can't work up any admiration or enthusiasm for someone's skateboarding skills.

(Yes, I'm a total no fun, non-athletic jerk)

Pretty sure my 18-year-old son who rides flow for several skateboard companies would think this video is lame.

If that's not art, then art is dead.

Circle board is awesome.

I'm 60 years old and wouldn't know which end of a skateboard is up, and I think it's lame.

OK, I get they're having fun and all, but...

nailing the boards together--that didn't happen. Hardwood board without splitting? Nails working loose?
middle of vehicle and pedestrian traffic--really?
three riders at a time--won't work unless you've spent hours and hours and have mad circus skillz.

Zagysebra - If your skater son thinks The Gonz is lame, that would be a pretty bold opinion for a skateboarder to have. It'd be like being into songwriting and saying you think Bob Dylan is lame.

For context, the dude is something of an underground icon/folk hero in the skateboarding community, almost universally admired by old school and new school alike for his offbeat style and humor. Maybe just weird to an outsider, but skateboarders - they love him.

Bluehorse: what makes you think nails were involved? A skate shoe could be use to push a bolt between two decks, but it wouldn't drive a nail. And a bolt would actually hold.

I enjoyed that a lot. Thanks!

I thought it was really creative and fun. Exactly what I loved about skating, when I used to skate.

I haven't smiled that much, since the Caught Clean videos (skateboarding and juggling!) or just watching Simon Woodstock skate (Clown skating!)

"It's ridiculous!", is exactly the point. Maybe. Or more succinctly, "It's fun!"

Did skateboarding get redefined as some sort of serious thing that serious people do for serious reasons? I've been out of the loop for a while.

Anyone who skates can tell you in their heart of hearts that they would look back more fondly on a goof like the circle board than any kickflip down a twelve stair set. It was this kind of stuff done with friends for no other reason than for a goof that made skating so much fun for me. I still look back on skating in cardboard boxes painted like Rubik's Cubes through Baltimore as the best part of my skating life. I am 41 now and still go out every once in awhile but I don't bounce when I hit concrete anymore so it is this kind of thing that I have left.

Why? Because we can!

Awesome - thanks.

I was expecting a disk-shaped skateboard on casters. That would've been much more interesting. But, Gonz, so...

I love people who have a bad idea, make it happen, demonstrate it's a bad idea, and just keep at it.

Well, he's still young and immature, be patient with him until he develops some taste and good judgement

I thought this was going to be a circular skateboard, but only one board so the wheels would be set to go in any direction around the perimeter of the deck.

Still and all, much fun was had and it'll make gorgeous outdoor art when they're done riding it.

I liked that in the same way I like the playful silliness of this skate video of Tim and Eric.

The best part of that video was the painted lady in the last scene...

Very much in the spirit of Tim & Eric's Cool Secrets... both are great! Note: Tim & Eric are not the same Tim & Eric as in Tim & Eric Awesome Show! (I thought this for a while and was amazed)
