Terrorists vs. US Government : a handy guide to discerning the differences...

I thought there was some common ground for the US and the terrorists to build on.

Yeah! A straw man arguement.

I'll start:

How is OBL the son of a politician?
How is OBL "using war as pretext to clamp down on dissent and undermine civil liberties"

What is supposed to be discussed here?

The bin Ladens made their money on construction, not oil (Well, indirectly oil through building refineries). But I digress...

What is supposed to be discussed here?

I believe it's another thinly disguised "Bush is Bad" thread.

It might, however, be a thinly disguised "America is the REAL terrorist" thread.

We'll just have to wait and see!

I'm going to say it. The Terrorists vs. US Government thing is stupid as fuck. I'm sorry, but I've seen it before, and didn't laugh then. It's not constructive, it's not clever, nor is it entertaining.

I'm afraid it's a thinly disguised "interesting idea, fairly amusing, wonder what others think about it?" thread. I'm not pro or anti Bush - I'm not even from the US - but it seemed an interesting link to put forward. What is supposed to be discussed is the reaction to the link, which I thought was fairly obvious...

God, when did you all lose your sense of humor?!

For me, it was right around the 700th Bush is Bad/America is the Real Terrorist post. Your results may vary, though.

I refer you to the answer I gave 4 comments up, Unclefes...

The truth is no defense. This is pretty close to trollsville. Still, I'm glad I saw it.

Bin laden's family made their money in construction, not oil. Whoever wrote that couldn't be bothered to get that fact write in the bery first entry. Why even bother reading the rest? What a bunch of lameness.

This is hella amusing, but really really old, by now. I'm kinda surprised more people haven't seen it. Most folks I know got it half a dozen times in their email a month or two ago. Ah well, carry on.

I hate to be the guy that says "Ah man, I'm so much cooler than you - I saw this way back when. Neener neener". Nonetheless : Neener neener.

That said, unlike Fes, I'm always up for a "Bush is Bad/America is the Real Terrorist post"!

I'm afraid it's a thinly disguised "interesting idea, fairly amusing, wonder what others think about it?" thread.

I'm afraid it's a thinly disguised "unrelated consequence, fairly annoying, wonder what responses this trolling will illicit?" thread.

I'm not even remotely a supporter of the Bushite. But this is a true waste of Metafilter. wibbler, I hope you're ready for a long night of [this is bad].

This reminds me of the Lincoln/Kennedy nonsense.

The fact that Bush is doing a lot of things that to a completely objective outsider (not to say that these guys are) would appear similar to Bin Laden is by no means trivial, nor is the fact that so many people are ready to laugh it off.

And the fact that so many Americans are hypocritical enough to be enraged by this...by someone merely suggesting that there isn't a hell of a lot of differences between bombing the WTC and bombing Afghani civilians...is by no means trivial.

It's just sad.

Wibbler, I hope you're ready for a long night of [don't bother us, we enjoy the feeling of cool sand around our heads and flowing into our ears and eyes].

I dunno... religious fanatic or corporate sock-puppet? I'd choose the latter (not that I had a choice).
