New England Patriots heading to Super Bowl. Joy in Boston tempered by realization that it's not the Red Sox.

Well, I'd have to say that if the Red Sox were going to the Super Bowl, they'd get pretty well creamed.

Was I hallucinating, or did Robert Kraft just say that now that the Patriots are going to the Super Bowl, the terrorists have lost?

bledsoe better not get use to the winning thing, I've got a feeling he'll be wearing black and orange stripes next year.

Mick: don't worry for Drew. Either of the NFC teams I'm watching right now will cream the Pats, so even if he plays in two weeks, which I doubt, he'll have very little chance to get used to winning.

"Goddamnit, the Red Sox haven't won the Super Bowl in...goddamnit, when was it?"

"Um, Sully, the Red Sox are a baseball team."

"Shut the fuck up, ya fag. I'm a Southie genius, just like what's-his-nuts in Good Will Hunting. Christ, it's all because Bill Buckner dropped that one pass in Game 6 of the Super Bowl."

"Sully, what happened to you?"

"I said shut the fuck up, dude, you're wicked retahted. Fucking traded Doug Flutie to the Yankees..."

Louie, you are correct that Drew won't be playing in the Pro Bowl.

Uhm, did you watch the Pats/Steelers game? No more whining about the Patriots having help: every single review, every single close call seemed to go the way of the Steelers. If anything, the NFL needs to address how refs handle home crowds in the playoffs. The questionable call the Pats got last week was right according to the rules, and it wasn't as though fans in Foxboro were expecting it to get overturned, so that was purely a judgement call. Today it looked like the refs just wanted to be able to get out with their skin.

Yerfatma: One of the biggest close calls of the game went against the Steelers -- Ward's falling out of bounds catch was reversed on review.

Actually, yes. I watched most of the game today, and it wasn't so much that the refs reversed calls for either team. They simply made the exact opposite decision then it appeared they should have on every challanged call. I was more or less refering to the Patriots game against the Raiders. I suppose they didn't get any help on that one either?

I was more or less refering to the Patriots game against the Raiders.

I understand that. All I'm saying is that things got evened out a bit today (unless you count the Raiders getting that phantom pass interefence call in the 70's-- then things got evened out last week). As far as "[e]ither of the NFC teams I'm watching right now" creaming the Patsies, that's what the Steelers were supposed to do. And the Pats and St. Louis played a close game on Monday night this year. Besides, how can you bet against New England in the Superbowl in New Orleans?

Damn... I was one of the few that had picked the Pats to win, so this is great. However, if only McNabb hadn't thrown that interception in the late 4th quarter, the Eagles might have won it against the heavily favored Rams. I had picked the Eagles to win as well, and if they'd have won I could have lorded it over owillis for the next 7 days.

Alas.... :(

i hope they get crushed in the Super Bowl, just like they did in '85, since they dont belong in there anyway due to that fumble a week ago.

yes, im bitter.

New England Patriots heading to Super Bowl...
with the LA Rams.

Guess what... now it's Rams/Patriots. I think tsarfan is going to get his wish, though, because the Pats didn't seem to have much of a pass rush against the Steelers.

Warner is going to come back healthy and cut them to pieces.

LA Rams?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the BIGGEST chokers. They've been to the AFC Championship at home 4 of the past 7 years and lost 3 of them. Would have been 4 if Harbaugh's last second hail mary was cought. I'm glad the Pats won, I'm sick of the Steelers living off their past. They underestimated their opponents and deserved to lose.

Didn't he have three interceptions today, too?

Good thing Bill Buckner didn't lose it for the Patriots too!

The new Big Dig bridge should've been called the
"Bill Buckner Bridge".. cause the traffic will go between the legs. :)

don't deserve this, don't deserve that... you're just sore because your team will be sitting at home eating cheese curls and drinking weak beer. Every team that makes it this far has had lucky bounces. There were some last night as well, but fairly evenly distributed. Truth is- Steelers looked flat. Bored. At times even apathetic. They were outplayed. End of story.

The insanely literal interpretation of what is and what is not a catch is hurting the game however. Both of those overturned catches SHOULD have been ruled catches in my opinion. Both were impressive, esp. the steelers catch on the sideline. Football is entertainment. Don't let officiating upstage the game.

Boston sports radio is funny. While I was driving home from a friend's house after the game yesterday, everyone (EVERYONE!) calling in claimed that the refs had some nefarious agenda (got paid off, were told by the league that the Steelers had to win, etc.). What a fucking chip on its shoulder this town has.

Also, this thread is pretty lame. How is that an interesting link? What's so special about the Pats going to the Super Bowl? Would you have posted this if the Steelers had won?

Also, why for you make with the Buckner cracks?
