Digital bodypaint, perhaps. A master of the computer software 3D Studio Max, Kim successfully juxtaposes old and new, traditional Asian motifs and new media.

Digital bodypaint, perhaps.

Ah, maybe that explains the lack of human warmth admits the striking patterns and shapes.

And the careful retention of nipples but smooth Barbie genital absences.

I think the few things that made me realize something was off was the "bumps" on one person's non-painted flesh; and then the lack of pubes, but also anything else that resembled any sexual surface on one mons pubis, and finally the pubic hair that was peeking up from behind the paint with absolutely no hair below it (yes, I realized it could be shaved from one spot down, but it didn't look quite right) then I realized it looks more like digital than actual paint. Not that I mind, it's still pretty damn cool looking stuff :)

I do a lot of photographic morphing/chopping/splicing for my own art; while this doesn't really do that to the subjects, the morphic swirls along with the fact it's bodies reminds me ever so slightly of my work, but it's really a stretch to say they're anywhere comparable either in substance or quality.

Reminds me of this interesting tidbit I found in the Tacoma Municipal Code.

8.102.020 Prohibited activity.
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate, or suffer to be operated on premises owned by him, any body painting studio, or
to knowingly participate in any act of body painting.
(Ord. 20277 ยง 1; passed Dec. 26, 1974)

ctmf, I wonder what happened that made them decide they needed that law. Sounds really situation specific!

10:1 someone was operating a "body painting" business that was a cover for prostitution.

So much for getting my hands henna'd or having my favourite Tacoma team's logo painted on my face!

I know, I was curious too. Seattle has a similar one that kind of more clearly gives the impression that "body studio" was at one time a common cover excuse for a place where you could pay money to touch people's bodies or have your own touched, ifyaknowwhatimean.

Still, Tacoma seems a bit over-broad, there.
