I started listening to these a few weeks ago, and they're great, but I still haven't found the one that adequately explains why there's no such thing as a fish.

For that you'll have to watch QI.

Ahhhhh I've been listening to this on my drive to work. It's quite good, although I wish they wouldn't keep pushing that one elf to get on Twitter.

Series L of QI starts on Friday!!!!!

only in the UK though. The rest of the world must rely on the kindness of strangers on YouTube with questionable morals.

Cold Lurkey, I'm in the US and I get my QI fix here.

NSTAAF is great listening for long road trips! I greatly enjoyed their "World Cup" series.

Holy smokes, that curry patent is quite a patent! The shortest patent in Japan, apparently. It says, in whole (very rough translation mine, without patentese, because I don't speak patentese):
[Detailed explanation of invention]
[Technical field]
[0001]
This invention is of curry roux which can be made in approximately 5 minutes with just water, flavorings, curry powder, and 1 egg, and which tastes as good or better than curry served in restaurants
[Background technologies]
[0002]
It takes at least one and a half hours to make conventional curry roux, given the need to prepare the meat and vegetables, and frying and stewing time, but a single serving of this curry roux can be made in 5 minutes with a frying pan.
[Scope of patent application]
[Claim 1]
One serving contains 100cc of water (vary as desired), 3 tablespoons sugar (vary as desired), 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons curry powder (vary as desired). These ingredients in the amounts above are mixed with 1 egg to make the curry roux.
(Note) "Tablespoons" refer to curry spoons. "Teaspoons" refer to tea spoons.

[Publication Number] Pat.Pub. 2006-311832(P2006-311832A)
...and then just stock items like submission date, submission number, publication date, publication number, name of applicant, etc.

They must be talking about a version of the roux block type of instant Japanese curry that was invented around the time of WWII for soldiers to eat. If they mean actual Indian-style curry, they are out of their minds.

Yeah, it's pretty clearly for Japanese/European curry, not Indian or Thai or Ethiopian or whatnot.
