It's good to see that The Upright Man is on Youtube; that'll definitely need rewatching.

Thanks, infini - to my embarrassment, I'd never heard of him, but this was great. Looking forward to getting more into the video links.

They've done something really weird on the site formatting: no matter what I do, I can't see the leftmost three or four characters.

Thanks for this. It won't get anything like the attention it deserves but ca cést la vie.
When asked why he didn’t want his portrait hung in public places, as was the norm for other African leaders, Sankara replied “There are seven million Thomas Sankaras.”

Chocolate Pickle, do you have NoScript running? if so, allow the site temporarily and the formatting should bounce back.

Cool post! I'd never heard of Thomas Sankara, but his story seems really interesting. I'll watch The Upright Man as soon as I get the chance.

Not enough linkable and/or credible stories yet from media sources but twitter going wild. Follow hashtag

Burkina Faso has just exploded in demonstrations against the president who was attempting to extend his term in office. Burkinabes have burnt down parliament and taken over the national TV station. The president has fled the country.

Whoa. I'm not at all qualified to comment on this story, but it seems pretty big, and I hope someone better informed than I am makes a full FPP of it.

also I still need to watch The Upright Man, so
