I feel so torn about this. On the one hand, I love the distinctive beats and tonalities. On the other hand, it's all machine beats. Nearly everything here could have come out of a laptop -- a Syrian laptop, a Senegalese laptop, and so on, but a laptop just the same. I have this suspicion that laptop music homogenizes more easily than bands playing instruments do. Also: Bands playing instruments sound great.
