Murdering street furniture is just one of the projects of French artist Lor-K.

That is some pretty fucked up shit right there.

I love it!

I like it because while it's a simple idea and perhaps not very meaningful it looks like so much fun to execute!

Ok, so I was totally pre-rolling my eyes before clicking the link, but whoa. Definitely elicited a visceral reaction. It's weirdly.... real.

It's like if Quentin Tarantino did an art installation.

There was mention in the Bansky thread how few women street artists there were.

Here is an example of one.

It's pretty awesome.

I look forward to her art being worth 6 figures and folks shuddering because they threw out this stuff in the trash.

On the one hand, I love the effects.

On the other hand, I found myself wondering where the line lies between awesome street art and a heap of decomposing upholstered trash (with extensive use of red paint).

It will go to the landfill in due course. I like the fact that she didn't change our relationship to these objects. Art or not they are still thrown away. I appreciate her making that explicit.

I live in a city that spends $200million-plus per year dealing with illegally-dumped furniture. It's already decomposing upholstered trash, even before the artist adds the red paint. And the paint might make people think a bit.
