This speech always tears me up. I occasionally listen to it when I need a mental boost(typically after accidentally watching cable news)

In a similar vein, The Gregory Brothers (of Autotune the News and a bunch of other viral videos) have made a few famous speeches into songs. Martin Luther King (I Have a Dream and his last speech), Winston Churchill, and John F. Kennedy.

This is a *heavily* sampled speech in electronic music (it's a favorite of "chillstep" producers), to the point of being overused. But the autotuning thing here is new, and it works nice! Reminds me of the PBS autotune things with Carl Sagan and Bob Ross. (Edit: it is by the same person, that's why it reminds me of that, duh)

See also the big electron, featuring Bill Hicks and George Carlin.

If you like meolodysheep (who also does the symphony of science), you might also like pogo.

If you are disturbed that all of these real people are being autotuned, you might like Hatsune Miku - MELT.

Hey, I coincidentally just watched that movie on Monday! Great film, which almost certainly is not viewable on YouTube in several parts.

Big electron is WONDERFUL. I also am partial to this Bruce Lee one, equal parts sincerity, wisdom, and wackiness.

It's a beautiful speech, but I always found this line somewhat unsettling:

"And so long as men die, liberty will never perish. ....."

He's right, but it's becoming more and more conceivable that someday people won't die, or at least will be able to live a very, very long time. What happens then, when the rich and powerful never perish, or live decades or centuries longer? Especially if it's just the tiny ruling elite that can afford to live 150, 200, 300 years but the rest of us die at normal ages?

Yes, amazing speech by Chaplin.

My favorite version is "United We Rise" | Peop1e which features the amazing Maggotbrain as the soundtrack.

Sangermaine, you remind me of Vonnegut's Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Well done.

Wow, I didn't know about this film, or nearly as much about Chaplin as I should have. What a mensch.
