Not only that, but that guinea pig also has the eyes of the infamous assassin Golgo 13!

Tsundere Sharks subreddit

Tsundere Spiders subreddit

I'm sure there's more like it but those are the ones I am most familiar with.

I was worried there was some sort of surgery involved but thankfully it is just paper.

I immediately thought surgery as well. I apologize to the Japanese people.

I fully expected to hate this, but 3 and 7 completely won me over. I live with a cat, I may try this later.

* sigh *

"Mark out a box with masking tape on the floor," they said, "Your cat will think it's a real box!"

Didn't.

I guess I'll try this eye thing later. I can't refuse you, Internet cat Borg.

I tried this.

I rendered a cute pair of eyeballs on a strip of paper and approached cat #1 armed with my camera; she sniffed the paper and tried to bite it before diving behind the sofa, confused by my efforts to obstruct her vision. Cat #2, observing this, made Big Worried Eyes and dashed off since the paper strip was clearly a strange thing for which there was no explanation.

I'll try again later, if I can find where they're hiding.

Oh. My.

Guess what I'll be doing. Just as soon as I can find the cat.

Japanese people have been doing this for ages, and it is always good times. Here's a sampler from my collection, wherein some kind of cookies (I think?) are used in lieu of drawn eyes.

now i'm imagining a cat askme that's full of questions like "why does my human keep sticking weird strips of paper over my eyes?" and "why does my human put tape down on the floor and then stare at me all expectantly?" and all the answers being "man, everybody knows humans are weird."

Take 2!

At least you can't accuse that cat of having eyes bigger than his/her stomach!
