"Hebocon is a robot contest for the technically ungifted. Entrants will need compromise and surrender, instead of ideas and technical skill. Robots are penalized for having high-tech features."

Hahaha, the robot that would have "lost Hebocon media coverage."

"Crappiness trumps strategy." Basically my personal motto, that.

The one that is basically just a very flat sheet will be the model for all future Robot Wars victors.

I also liked "crappiness trumps strategy". I should try using that at work.

There's a nice round-up of all the robots starting at 6:10.

I'm squirreling this screencap away for the future just to help me get through life.

This is the sort of competition that I could totally get in to. Wow, I want to host one of these out here.

"On her way to the venue, one entrant forgot her robot on the train. She gave up looking for the robot, and then sent us a photo of her having a beer. The crowd praised this act of supreme crappiness."

I love everything about this competition.

My favorite was "Dolls spin dynamically to advance", which was a pair of spinning Barbies attached to a gun. Very dada.

It reminds me a little bit of the sadly discontinued Antimov contest at Sparkfun. The robots had to complete a task in as inefficient a way possible, or iirc fail, and then destroy themselves. The logo is the most adorable thing ever.
