Well, that is a completely different dinosaur menorah than the one I was expecting.

I'd like it even better if there was some way to have the dinos holding the candleholders in their claws....

Yes, OK, the end result looks pretty cool but is anyone else as skeptical as I am about its fire safety? Or maybe I'm just a holiday killjoy..

I am totally comfortable with open flames contained by wood, dollar store plastic and Rustoleum. I would display it next to my sculpture fashioned from dryer lint.

I know, one big stegosaurus is the logical thing, right?

Although I suspect the "buy thrift store stuff and spray paint it metal or monocolor" may be the decoupage of our era, I can't help but love it.

Why make one when you could just buy one?

Menorahs, as relatively tall structures for holding pillars of fire are not particularly fire safe things. Even if this were made out of metal or asbestos, I'm pretty sure that there would be more danger from this thing falling over than from the interactions between the candles and the plastic/paint/wood.

People used to hang candles from Christmas trees.

I just tried to make these. The trouble started with the shamash, which broke free of its holding pen and mauled a child. All show shows extreme intelligence, even problem-solving intelligence. Especially the shamash. I made eight candles originally, but when she came in she took over the pride and killed all but two of the others. That one... when she looks at you, you can see she's working things out. That's why we have to feed them like this. She had them all attacking the fences when the feeders came.

I'm pretty sure one of those is just Godzilla.

Sorry, G-dzilla.

Well, now I want the shamash to be an action figure of Ian Malcolm holding the candle.

"Are you implying that a quantity of oil that could only burn long enough for one night could somehow burn for eight?"

"I'm simply saying that G-d...uhh....finds a way."

This person is using hot glue, an adhesive material that becomes malleable when heated to hold a candleholder in place. This is a bad idea. They make adhesives intended to bond plastic to plastic many hobby stores. Here's a helpful guide.

Yeah, the hot glue is the least of the problems. I wouldn't put fire anywhere near that thing. Hell, I wouldn't even expose it to direct sunlight.

So a friend just gave a bag of mini dinosaurs for Christmas, because I have excellent friends, are there other dino based crafts I should be looking into? Because I would love to replace some common and uncommon household items with dinosaurs.

BTW - where did your friend get this bag of mini dinos?

Asking for a friend.

It's a lot more expensive than a bag of plastic dinos, but this is pretty amazing: Menorasaurus Rex.

Many of these dinosaurs are from the Cretaceous Era. This casts doubt on whether the Maccabees would actually approve.

I completely missed Mayor Curley's comment!

Also true facts, a user named superdumb from the article's original comments says:
"I love this idea!"

I want to make something sort of like this but I have no idea where to find actual METAL candle holders.

Try Googling "brass candle cups", that will give you a lot of links to pick through. If you want to narrow it to just the better machined or "turned" candle holders, add those as search terms. To save you some trouble, here's a place that sells sets of nine candle cups that are intended for use on a menorah or hanukkiah:

Not affiliated, just passing along, etc.

I'm in Canada, so from the US shipping tends to be a problem wrt duties and taxes if I order enough to cover the cost of shipping and isn't worth it in the end. Thanks though, I'll keep it in mind for next time I order to the US.
