Police Arrest an allegedly Fake Nun. But really, is she any more dishonest than a regular church is? "Say, why is that priest driving a Porsche?"

well, at least when you give to a real nun you know where the money is going... it's up to you if you want to support that or not. there is no dishonesty though in what a real nun would do with the money. you might think the real nun is wrong, but she's probably not dishonest

Is this biased flame-bait or what?

Maybe the nun was attending St. Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast...

Now hold on a second. First of all it's Buddhist, and second, it's in China. Buddhist monasteries in China are not like churches here in North American (or at least the ones I've seen in both places). There are no masses, nor are there solicitation for money. It's mostly a personal endeavour, and you donate as you walk into the temple before you kneel down and pray. And one last thing, there is no "church" in Buddhism.

So yeah, evanizer, that sounds like baiting.

I rcall that Lenny Bruce, alas now gone, is said in a biography to have dressed as a priest to panhandle for drug money. I guess you could say he dressed in his habit.

New York has a bunch of fake nuns that run the racket. One would stand outside the downtown ferry to New Jersey at rush hour and try to collect 'for the children of St. John's.'

She had this real raspy voice, like she just smoked a pack of cigarettes. But she was also real mean. If you called her on being fake like "Which St. Johns?" or "Hey, did you see the expose on Nightline last night about all the fake nuns that panhandle" or "It's horrible how you are using children to make a few bucks," she'd flip out and start cursing at you at the top of her lungs, chasing you down the ferry ramp right up until you go on the ferry.

"Fuck you's" and "asshole's" and everything else under the sun would spill from her mouth. Fake nuns piss me off. What gets me is that there are so many people who fall for it.
