I have no idea how these people got these things wedged into themselves

Oh, this is super cool! I like the mixture of "this is what this weird injury/swallowing something you oughtn't have looks like" and "this is what an interesting developmental abnormality looks like."

I really hope Penile Rupture Aubergine guy is OK.

There is a fine line between uploading images of other people for discourse and discussion and doing it for the LuLZ.

Figure1 should get a nod - great app that is promoting sharing of all kinds of imagery. It is like Instagram for medical stuff.

Next time I'm feeling sorry for myself, I'm going to think about that Cherubism X-ray.
Christ.

Yeah I winced and grimaced at a bunch of these but just reading the words "penile rupture" really got me. If that hadn't been the last one, I would've been done at that point anyway.

(go figure since a lot of the other pics are way more terrifying than penile rupture... which is.. saying something)

We must hope that Penile Rupture Aubergine Guy was doing something utterly debauched when disaster struck, rather than, say, driving a fork lift truck at work or something.

We talked about Figure1 here.

Apparently my girlfriend had a rugby teammate when she was in college, who had accidentally caused penile rupture in two of her previous boyfriends. Accordingly, she was referred to by her team as "(name redacted) the dickbreaker." It was on her jersey and everything.

There is something disturbingly eponysterical about "I have no idea how these people got these things wedged into themselves and they trembled before her fury."

SpongeBob SquarePants ... you can see him so clearly because he's metallic and metal ridges outline his features, even his freckles.

Freckles? He's a sponge, doctor.

Apparently none of the people on that website have ever heard of HIPAA.

Well, Charlie, for starters they aren't in the US! Amazing!

Also, in the article, they go through the steps they take to ensure confidentiality and privacy concerns are addressed.

Basically this person was just fishing and stuck the hook onto their own ear accidentally, and the prawn is still attached to the hook.

And the prawn was still attached to the hook. The reasons I'm not ok with this image are many and varied but most specifically include La muñeca menor/The Youngest Doll, a fabulously horrific short story by Ferré.

Radiologists have always had a clamp on reading Xrays, CTs, MRIs, etc.

I'm all for sites like this with a higher level of medical information--and fewer of the US-type sites that just give some kind of 3rd grade level information and then say "see your doctor." Because...HIPAA, confidentiality, speciality, etc.

If you're into this kind of thing, the Radiological Society just their 100th anniversary, and sponsored an image contest.

Me, I'm more a fan of MRI disasters. The magnet is always on, people!

Penile Rupture

I will never forget being woken up at 5 am by my roomate walking into my room, waking up me and my girlfriend, whipping out his penis, and asking "do you think I need to go to the hospital?"
