The idea of a state-sanctioned religious tax is just absurd to me, but good for these folks for reclaiming it to at least have a good time. Hilmarsson sounds like an OK dude.

Christ promised victory against sin.

Thor promised the eradication of the ice giants.

Seen an ice giant lately?

The result, after more than a decade of careful saving, will be the wooden-clad new temple or hof, built on a quiet section of Reykjavík’s shore with a wall of south-facing glass designed to capture the rising and setting sun on the shortest day of the year.

How wonderful! Congrats, Hilmarsson and company!

Yeah Ice Giants have been a big problem over here as of late, this is why we're turning away from the Christ en masse.

The church tax thing led me to see they collect 9 billion euros a year in Germany although spiegel tells me nobody goes to church and all the churches are for sale. The article has an awesome photo of a church re-purposed as a rock climbing gym.

So much anti-ice giant sentiment on this site is sickening

I saw an article a week or so ago that has some renderings of the temple. It's a really cool design that allows the sun in through specially shaped windows.

Seen an ice giant lately?

Have you been to New England in the last few weeks? It's like a damn Ice Giant convention here.

Yay a new hof!

AsatruaR tend to be the most pragmatic of the neopagans, I've found - though I'll admit in the US we're probably a bit more flighty.
