Came to see Magic Johnson on ice skates... left disappointed. Once again.

It was a pretty terribly hacked up version of the Jesus Christ Superstar score. The skating was excellent, and the featured moves (jumps, lifts, spins) were well timed with climactic parts in the score, the musical transitions were just terrible though.

I don't watch a lot of ice-skating, but the musical accompaniment often fascinates me. I notice that they quite often edit the snot out of the music - as with the snippets from Jesus Christ Superstar here - and I find it quite jarring. In fact, the bad and excessive music editing in this performance actually subtracted from the experience. For me, at least.

And yeah, I'm with ZaneJ - when I see two people moving like that, my thoughts tend to go

1. I wonder if they're fucking.

2. Absolutely, they have *got* to be fucking.

3. I can't find it on Google, but yeah, definitely. I mean, if they aren't fucking, it's a crime.

4. OMG, did you see that? I would pay to watch them fucking.

5. So why isn't fucking an Olympic event, anyway?

I kept being distracted by the musical jumps because I'm very familiar with the musical, but damn, that's some quality skating.

For sillier musical skating, here are beefy cowboys doing an ice routine to "little more conversation"

I'm one of those people who is pretty much an "I can take it or leave it" when it comes to ice skating, but I'll take all of this that they want to throw at me...just absolutely magnificent!

magic on ice..

gliding majestically each holding a perfect position, landing amazing triples, between the Crest and Smuckers banners. These two were incredible, and skating is so so much harder than it looks, even tho' these two make it look easy. But there is something about the whole environment, the odd mix of pseudo artistic gestures and athleticism that just seems disjointed.
