Comics artist Brett Ewins, co-creator of Deadline, artist for Skreemer and Johnny Nemo, and frequent 2000AD contributor (cover gallery), has passed away passed away age 59.

I was crazy about Johnny Nemo when I was younger. I'm surprised the character didn't catch on more. He's about as definitive to the look of the 1980s as anything was for me.

Yeah, he was one of the quintessential 2000AD artists for me. Very sad news.

I was: a Starlord/2000AD reader right when he was getting started on both; an aspiring young cartoonist; and a Ewins, who are few and far between. So he always meant a lot.

Brett was one of the really distinctive truly weird artists but still had a strong sense of story telling. 'Bad Company' was iconic and 'The Haunting of Sector House 9' was one of my fave Dredd stories

Sad that he had such of hard time of it in his later years. Kano fights forever!
