Instagram chef plates junk food like high-end cuisine. From the @chefjacqueslamerde Instagram account. (Sample item: "HAY BAKED HOT POCKETS W/ HIDDEN VALLEY BACON RANCH SPHERES AND A PUREE OF ZOODLES (WHOLE WHEAT)"

This is actually a really good way to illustrate basic plating principles. I'm learning!

The pictures are amazing, but the captions really do take it to another level.

Are we sure this isn't Grant Achatz taking the piss? Because about 90% of the dishes look like you find them any given night at Alinea.

Id be willing to wager the Filet o fish meal is completely delicious. And would not be out of place in a fancy spot.

I lost it at PURPLE GOGURT CREMA.

The Filet o fish meal does look pretty good but...."coleslaw ash"???

Also: "FRENCH VANILLA COFFEEMATE PANNA COTTA"? I'm intrigued.

"KINDER EGG FILLED W/ RAW CAKE BATTER ROMANCED W/ CHARRED RICE CRISPIES, PB, GOJI + MESQUITE POWDER. DONT TELL THE FEDS!!!" Listen, I'm not proud, but I would pay cash monies for this and count myself lucky for the honor of doing so.

But the dishes are being augmented with things not found in the original dishes -- or do filet o fish now come with flower petals?

These look amazing and I would totally eat them.

I want to know if they're really making all of those spheres. Whatever the case, someone is clearly enjoying their work.

It is all astoundingly pretty and now I want to learn how to be a chef so that I can plate my chicken and quinoa that well.

It is pretty but it makes me less hungry somehow.
Recipe books have the same effect on me. :\

Normally I'd be like "alright, oreos" but in this context I'm like "wait.. what's going on here exactly?"

Maybe that's the point....

Everything might look better with thinly sliced radishes but just think of how many fingertips will be claimed by the inevitable mandolin cutter accidents.

I agree with naju, this has to be a pro. Almost certainly one who works in exactly this kind of restaurant.

And it's glorious.

It all looks the same.

By which I mean it looks like a kid dropped a collection of forest litter on a finger painting.

A painting of an empty wallet.

And hunger.
