TheWhelk, you are totally the best.

It is one of my tremendous regrets that I left NY before I got to meet Mr Leavitt. I would pay real money, in appropriate amounts, for his work. Everybody should.

Heh, and then I just did! Thanks for the amazon links, Max. Scarlett is now en route.

I would buy that one about comments if it were a print. I'm just saying . . .

meta: Modern Horror Tales led me to Hot New Trends for 2015, of which the last one is "Broth Viking", which should totally be a metafilter username.

Maybe I should've linked to his back-catalog in the "more inside" section! :)

I'd go more with Broth Goth myself.

The Whelk is a true gentleman, and hopefully soon will be too famous to talk to any of us.
Also, the Nib rules. I wish I could pay money to have it delivered to me in paper form every saturday so I could read it and eat 75 bowls of cereal.

I'm putting this on my office wall.

One and two are the bane of my work life.

Inbox zero is also impossible because of all of the 'hey have you done this or where is that emails' that could so easily NOT HAVE TO EXIST if we could use some sort of project thingy with messaging like Slack or Trello. Heck I'd even be happy with IM at this point!

I would so love to be able to say "Hey Boss the report you need is done and in the XXX folder on the shared drive" but no, I'm constantly having to make files into PDFS and attaching them to emails. One boss even wants me to phone every time I send a file by email. o.O Then invariably I get a call two days later, hey did you send those files, I can't find them in my inbox. I say yes but usually have to send them again. *sigh* We have a shared drive for a reason people!! lol

Then a lot of the time the files get resaved on the shared drive, in another spot and we have multiple copies. This wouldn't be such a big deal if a lot of the files aren't constantly updated and it's necessary for people to only use current versions.

I'm in the processing of implementing a company wide document control system which will lock a lot of files down.

My horror is having to sort through a completely disorganized shared drive and the process of people having to change their file sharing and saving habits. I found 10 pdf copies of one document the other day. *cries*

So yeah I really hate phones, email and pdfs in my office and love these comics. They are indeed horrors!

Why can't you put a link in the email to the shared drive? Like \\ServerName\SharedFolderName\FileName ?

I don't know! You'd think that would be fine. I think that the whole thing is an issue of habit and resistance to change. I've talked about and given examples of other options and the response is very positive but the people that would have to drive that change just don't, even if they've said it would be better.

Because Jalliah's boss would still call and ask for the link again.

The Orginal pencils for the thing!

As for prints, if there's enough interest in the comments panel I might revive my Etsy account for a limited run.

Thanks everyone!
