It's really good.

I recommend also as a starter platter this Chance & SoX playlist on SoundCloud.

Just started digging in to all this last night and now I'm obsessed.

2015 continues to crush 2014 on the music front. So… when do we get Fanfare for albums?

There's a new new Herbert album coming on June 1, but this isn't the thread for that

Is there any non-iTunes way to download it? The Chance page only seems to link to iTunes, and the album is only available in the U.S. iTunes store.

I have been waiting for this. Thanks, lkc!

yeah, I was on my way out the door and didn't catch that all the damn download links went to itunes.
I got it from a place of other scruples, and it's not up on his soundcloud page yet.

I'll see if I can get another link when I'm back in front of a computer.

I haven't found any alternative download links, but here's the full album on YouTube.

I think you could do a half-decent job about "fig-leafing" electronic and hip-hop release discussions into FanFare by finding new podcast mixes that support and/or feature the new music or the artist. There are probably podcasts that discuss new albums, to extend this shoe-horning effort.

thanks, ftf.
and again, folks, it's a free album, chance is cool like that.

(by that, I mean youtube links should be cool.)

I keep hearing about Chance, but haven't heard him yet. Really liking this so far.

Also unrelated to the album, but related to this meta-thread about music formats: I stopped buying iTunes music years ago and switched to mostly using Amazon's Cloud Player. And I just figured out that you can import M4A files into Cloud Player. So I'm feeling the need to find any other cool free music from the past four years or so in iTunes.

Andrew Nosnitsky in The Fader: “Why Chance The Rapper Is Forgoing Solo Fame To Make Jazzy Songs With Friends”

It's worth noting that Chance has explicitly described Surf as being Nico Segal / Donnie Trumpet's project. From the article:

Donnie Trumpet, a 21-year-old born Nico Segal, is the member of this collective who—you guessed it—plays the trumpet. Chance is another member, but, notably, he's just another member. He's buried himself in a group setting, deferring a shot at becoming a more-than-reasonably-famous rapper in favor of an uncentered, cross-genre collaboration with his friends.

There's something about the general vibe around "Just Wait" that strongly reminded me of less housey Basement Jaxx's Junto (continuous mix of the album tracks).
