The world, our world, is on fire

We inch towards war, a short step to nuclear, on the eastern plains of Europe. To the south, economies unravel. The climate collapses, like ice shelves into the sea. The struggle for social justice continues, two hopeful steps forward and one bitter step back, in a thousand places. Medicines fail, peace talks fail, the bioweb fails, one disappearing species at a time. TV news flickers with graphic violence, with hurt and inequality. Social media is filled with anger and retribution, through the mob or through anonymity. People are unhappy, worried, rage in frustration and impotence. We no longer go to the moon, but consider instead that the end days are finally approaching. Here, therefore, are some cats in Kimonos.

Flagged for not having enough cats in kimonos (because there are never enough cats in kimonos).

Well to be fair gainful employment has never been their MO.

So are the cats in Japan heavily drugged or just really, really patient? 'Cause I spent a lot of time as a kid trying to dress up various cats in clothes, and it never ended this well.

I call bullshit- some of those are yukata.

I was going to do the yukata joke, but then I looked up 'yukata' on Wikipedia and it said that a yukata is a KIND of kimono.

I am possibly the least fun person for a hundred miles in any direction...

Never so heartily have I wanted to see pictures of a miss-spent youth.

Reminds me of an old Pimsleur dialogue (transcribed)

Male: I need to buy a Japanese souvenir for my wife.
Female: How about a kimono?
Male: Kimono might be expensive...
Female: you cheapskate Perhaps a yukata is less expensive...
Male: Perhaps that is so...

From my limited experience, some cats will fight, while others lose the will to live, even when dressed in the most basic "little witch" costume of a hat with a chinstrap and a cape.

I am appalled at your insinuation, implication or other statement regarding the perceived editorializing within this finest of posts. I therefore am left with no choice but to challenge you to a duel at dawn. I choose pistols. Have your seconds contact my seconds to make the necessary arrangements. Good DAY to you.

Bistle: sorry, no photos. But picture a small kid, a pile of doll clothes, a doll carriage, and a variety of non-cooperative semi-feral cats. Much wrestling on both sides plus a liberal application of kitty pointy-bits.

Thank goodness for tetanus shots.

*slaps glove across Wordshore's cheek, lightly*

My seconds will be there, and will check the pistols before use.

I dunno... this gives me some hope.

The kittens in kimonos really did a great job, but then I got greedy and followed that link as well. The kittens were erased from my mind as if by a new method for injecting nanoscale electric scaffolds direclty into the brain, and my sense of dread grew stronger, wondering what horrific dystopian future my continued scrolling down was going to reveal, and how much territory the malevolent cyborg army all these technologies inevitably led to has already conquered.

Moar kittens pls.
