"For the last year and a half I've been told I'm paranoid, I'm nuts...

...that my insecurities will kill me one day." On Monday, Irish fitness blogger Emma Murphy posted a video of herself to facebook, still sporting the black eye given to her by her partner three days earlier when he punched her in the face. The mother-of-two talked about her decision to leave him after prolonged abuse, and encouraged other women to escape their own abusive relationships.
The video has been watched more than 7 million times in three days, and her story has made headlines in Ireland and around the world.

In an interview with TV3 she said of the video: “It’s a huge deal, I know this because of the amount of mail I’ve gotten from people.” and urged others in a similar situation: “Do what I did, run straight to your family and friends and tell them you need them around you.”

Her partner has admitted pushing her but claims he did not punch her.

The Mefiwiki - There Is Help
page has resources on domestic violence which are currently limited to UK and US, if anyone has the time, knowledge and inclination to expand them.

The excuse comes off like a recalcitrant child. I didn't punch her. I pushed her and she must've fallen all clumsy like.

Usanga, who is due to become a father for the third time this week with another woman, said he pushed Emma but is insistent he did not punch her.

From the clumsily written "has admitted to pushing her" link, I had to read this a couple times. Dude should just man up and admit he's a fuck up. No half measures.

What an utter douchebag Usanga sounds like. Yeah, I knocked up another woman. Yeah, I "pushed" my partner hard enough that she fell over. But punch her? What am I, an animal?

Ugh. Eat shit and die.

I'm glad she is out and am so incredibly proud of her for talking about it. I know how hard that is. I hope she stays strong. Leaving is the hardest part, really, as strange as that may sound. It's also one of the most dangerous times in the whole abuse cycle. I hope she stays safe.

He must have got a shit ton of feedback as he's deleted his Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube channel.

In sort of related news, the UFC has pulled Travis Browne out of fight week, due to domestic violence allegations made by his partner, fitness model Jenna Renee Webb, on Instagram.

Usanga really does sound like a piece of shit. Good on her for getting away from that monster.

(I never knew about the Metafilter "There Is Help" page linked to after the jump. Holy crap, that is an invaluable resource, and it really should be promoted more.)

Fuck. Telling someone you've punched that their insecurities will kill them one day is a death threat, IMO. Good for her for getting out before it was too late. And how brave to go public - telling your friends and family is hard enough, let alone anyone else.

The ex reckons he's not a violent person. The evidence suggests otherwise, you dickless wonder.
