Apple's iPod used in stealing software. Not only is it an mp3 player or a portable 5 gig harddrive, but now it's being used to steal software!

Damn that Apple! They make their hardware too damn easy to use! What a half-ass slow news day story. Aren't there crappy products that they can write stories about that aren't such a stretch?

So were floppy disks back when software could actually fit on them.

This isn't something new.

"I thought there's no point in getting any more involved in this imbroglio," Webb said. "Besides, this is Texas. You never know what he might have been carrying."

What am I missing here?

Is Texas now a no-mans land where iPod carrying youths also are known to carry grenade launchers?

If I were Apple, I would have planted this story. Law as PR.

I hope that nobody tell them about CD-RWs or Zip Drives...

texas has concealed hand-gun laws. not that i would think warez people and the gun-toting crowd are very close.

Look at this through the other end of the telescope. This would make a very effective technique for spying, whether it's our CIA, their al Qaeda, or corporate. As a network manager, I'd be very concerned about this feature, especially if I were in any kind of sensitive business.

Of course, it IS just the same as a floppy, except that it's got capacity and speed up the wazoo by comparison. It's just another hole to worry about in typical porous security.

I especially like how Mr. Concerned Citizen was considering "getting involved," but decided not to because "this is Texas. You never know what he might have been carrying."

Cool. When is Apple coming out with a PC version of the iSteal?

Apple should do an advertisement with that woman from Alias. (Jennifer Warner? Garner?) She could steal some secrets, then beat the crap out of some windows users.

Why not just get a portable firewire drive to accomplish the same thing? How is the iPod special in this regard? Dumb, dumb, slow news day.

yea, ipods are bootable too, which was a feature apple said when they came out, so they probably won't do away with that stuff. and anyway, apple is fun. :)
