Every day this month, I’m searching the word “mashup” on Twitter and turning 31 jokes into real mashups. Why? I don’t know. Probably as a distraction from real things I should be doing.

Demi Adejuyigbe, aka @electrolemon, who you may previously remember from his terrible mashups of Hozier's "Take Me to Church", decided to spend July making twitters wildest dreams (nightmares?) come true.

The Eminem/Coldplay one is awesome in a beautiful/horrifying way.

Inspired? You can do this yourself: Yes vs. Nicki Minaj

I haven't even had a chance to listen to these as I'm at work, but regardless, it's all worth it for the phrase "Two Chainz None the Richer".

I have no skills when it comes to this sort of thing, so if someone could please mash up the Buzzcocks' "Oh Shit" with Pharcyde's "Oh Shit", I would really like to get that idea out of my head. Thx.

Some of these could be improved by changing the keys so they actually match. Unless that's part of the charm?

That's odd, it looks like it got taken down. That was one of my favorites. Maybe it got flagged for copyright stuff or something?

I listened to about ten seconds of HAKUNA COLADA and I already have the entire three-minute song stuck in my head.

I listened to the entire set... and the stand outs for me are Blink-187, BEN-GAZI, Journey Cyrus, I'm Too Sexy for the Floor, and American Beastie. They all sound too much like a Girl Talk show though...but I like the effort. Mrs. Benway was dancing around the kitchen as I played loud on the HI-FI!

I wish more people know about this kid, but like in a way where he won't be famous so his vines and his mashups will still feel genuine to me.

I listened to a couple of them and they seemed somehow... I dunno, I lack the musical vocabulary to explain... not quite right. Like, I wanted to like Journey Cyrus, but there was somehow no resolution to the musical tension. Same with Boston Police. Maybe as fiercekitten said, they could be improved by key shifting or something. There are mashups that painstakingly meld their source material into a new, perfect union that sounds like it always existed as that song, and these are not that. Still a fun idea and interesting to click through.

I'm a big mashup fan, and basically YMMV much like how general music tastes go. For example, I get a big kick out of Easy Heaven (The Cure vs The Commodores), but a lot of people I know just don't hear what I hear.

That said, for having these done within a day, which means not a lot of tinkering, quite a few of these are pretty great!

Before all these, he made Royal Funk, which is self-explanatory, and he said he has "an awful new hobby".

Late to the party but mixing Beyoncé's "7/11" with Robert Palmer's "Looking for Clues" on YouTube Doubler is pretty awesome if you mute Beyoncé (sorry sweetie)
