Curiosity explores the surface of Mars and so can you. To celebrate the third anniversary of the rover's landing on Mars, NASA has created Mars Trek, a whiz-bang site for armchair explorers.

This is great. It zooms in to the center of the image instead of zooming in on the mouse pointer, which is a bit annoying if you're used to the way Google Maps (or Google Mars, for that matter) does things.

I wish there was a rover playback mode, where you could watch an overhead view of a rover's progress together with a still images from the rover's cameras.

Ha, was just coming to post this, it's so cool! Here's an enhanced quality video of Curiosity landing as seen from the rover itself, plus all the emotional excitement of the landing from the control room on Earth

I hope they've 'shopped an alien or two in there, for the entertainment value of seeing the conspiracy crowd go (more) bonkers.

davebush: "Needs guitars."

That comment leaves me a little bittersweet, but I'm no guru.
