I thought this was a beautiful tribute. What a time to have lived in. So much incredible music. So many wonderful characters.

Happened to watch 24 Hour Party People again they other day, and it's a bit rough around the edges and Coogan is a bit too Partridge but it's got moments of pure genius... 'Every band needs it's own special chemistry. And Bez was a very good chemist.'

This is brilliant, thank-you.
I'm an immigrant here, so I don't know if I get to call myself a Mancunian (ah, identity) but my two children were born in Scary Mary's and are acquiring good Manc accents from their childminder, so I guess I'm as Manc as someone who lives in Didsbury can be. And I love the city: the music scene passed me by (I know, right?) and I'm not into football (!) but I love it here. The tile and brick Victorian buildings, the canals, the Gay Village, Rusholme, the Northern Quarter, the Town Hall where I married, the alien spaceship in the Royal Exchange, the fake Gothic of the University.
If I had enough money I'd buy the old Fire Station and do it up as... I don't know, something cool. Labs. Band space. Kids play area. Arts. Shall we try a Kickstarter? The five of us? Grin. Why not?

Also, we're not on the coast, which given global warming is very important. We'll have that beach some day.
