They're taking the Hobbits to Isengard

Ten years ago today Erwin Beekveld unleashed a video on the internet. (youtube). During the filming of the Hobbit movies Peter Jackson went a little...meta. Erwin himself owns up to the earworm and his 5 minutes of fame.

Cheers. That's firmly lodged in my skull for the next three years again.

Do you have a child you let watch LOTR way too young and also let them watch the "Taking" video, lydhre? Because that was our mistake.

I suspect it also inspired the Mithril Disco Phial from Lego Lord of the Rings.

I don't even have to click on the link for it to get stuck again. But then, maybe it'll displace the Steven Universe intro song.

That's why the people of this world
believe in
A Balrog of Morgoth,
stupid fat hobbits,
and Gandalf

Yeah, that came up on my Tumblr dash this morning and of course it immediately lodged itself in my head, and of course I immediately inflicted it on all of my followers.

Saved! Now if that would happen when I visited TVTropes, I'd gain years of my life back.

I'm too busy having this song stuck in my head for the last decade, thanks

I was sure that would be this, which is in my everyday playlist, but it's better. It's another song by the same dudes. I didn't even know they made other songs.

He did find some great lines that are goofy if you think about the meaning but musical if you just listen to the rhythm of what syllables the actors stress.

They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!

I much desire to speak with him.

Gah, damn Peter Jackson. Galadriel says this in the book, not Celeborn!
“Nay, there was no change of counsel,” said the Lady Galadriel speaking for the first time. Her voice was clear and musical, but deeper than woman's wont. “Gandalf the Grey set out with the Company, but he did not pass the borders of this land. Now tell us where he is; for I much desired to speak with him again. But I cannot see him from afar, unless he comes within the fences of Lothlórien: a grey mist is about him, and the ways of his feet and of his mind are hidden from me.”

To me, nothing beats the Lords of the Rhymes link ob1quixote posted above. I think of it from time to time, load it up on YouTube, and then can't stop replaying it.
Crap, now I'm going to be tired at work tomorrow, aren't I? Oh well. ELF BOOTY GOT SOUL.

Yeah, ob1quixote, Lords of the Rhymes is a classic and went a million times more viral but I actually feel like Black Riders on Call is a better song. Glad I could share it with you!

I'm not kidding that it really has been stuck in my head pretty much constantly since it came out though. Tonight the shit goes down at Pelennor!

Oh god. Did I just pull a hipster "glad I could rec you this obscure and underappreciated b-side" in a thread about Lord of the Rings novelty songs? Looks like I did. Sorry guys.

I somehow managed to avoid all this despite having a friend who's a huge Tolkein buff.

However, the thing he did sing all the time was "Where there's a whip, there's a waaaaaay....."

"Tell me, where is Gandalf, for I much desire to sleep with him." is how I hear it every time.

Thanks Callipygos, I'm going to get a lot of uses out of that song.

"Where there's a whip, there's a waaaaaay....."

That song embedded itself into my consciousness so much that when I reread the books years later and found the actual quote was "where there's a whip there's a will," I was annoyed at Tolkien for getting it wrong.

Lords of the Rhymes are still on the My Top Rated playlist and I'm not ashamed. 'Cos I'm mad off the hoof just like a Númenórean and I got more rhymes than leaves in Lothlórien.

I know it's a little bit of a cheat to bring Flight of the Conchords to a novelty song-off, but Frodo, Don't Wear That Ring is a firm favorite.

Never forget that Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Concords is Figwit.
