Cats would never cozy up to the Equine-Paramilitary Complex like this. Of course, cats are also born thieves....

Thieves and vandals. "Oh, you just bought this nice new piece of furniture and all I have is an old scratching post? Well, when you have claws like mine everything is a scratching post! OK, I'm done, now pet me, but not too much."

I trust OP in this case, but I kinda worry this being another pelican/pigeon scenario.

Police horses are amazing in their ability to cozy up to all manner of loud creatures/crowded situations and not spook. Having said that, one Christmas I was volunteering as a Salvation Army Bell Ringer in front of the newspaper where I worked, and a mounted policeman sidled up to me with a horse that visibly DID NOT care for the sound of my bell. He was champing, and tossing his head and baring his teeth at me.

"Go ahead," said the cop, "Get behind him and ring the bell louder. I want him to get used to it."
"Fuck THAT!" I said. "You need to train him on your own goddamn time!"

Why? Why you make me sad I has no dog (or horse)? If me had dawg horse-pulling thru snow, even winter come, summer-person me not care.

I think I read too many of that dog twitter.

even if difrent, everything is great

...except plastic bags billowing in the wind, and tiny beetles walking across the floor. Those are abominations and must be loudly abjured.

Best horse video i’ve seen in a while:

“Layla's sweet boyfriend, T, bringing her a bite of hay to eat and giving her some kisses”

Other animals, for my dog, generally fall into one of two categories:

1. My new best friend
2. Food

The first time she saw a horse she quickly determined that it was NOT food but it seemed too big to be safe and therefore couldn't be her friend. I think that, given some time to actually interact with a horse and/or being licked by one would put them firmly into the first category but until then she'll have to keep the third category: 3. Horses

I can confidently say, having read far too much YA historical fantasy in my time, that horses and cats get on just fine. Stables were attractive to mice, who ate the horses' grain and widdled in it; cats ate the mice and snuggled with the horses. Everybody was happy! Especially plucky tomboys whose experience with saddles and tackle and so forth was invaluable when they ended up going on quests!

That Twitter feed is the Dog Solution for anxiety. When I am nervous and no actual dog is available, I pull it up and read it until I feel a little bit better.
