I'm sure William Shatner could be persuaded to contribute a version as well.

Does anybody think that the phrase "I'd listen to him recite the phone book" was not meant to be applied to Patrick Stewart?

Subsequently, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen asked if they could join the squad. Taylor was approving, but it's unclear to me if they were officially admitted.

And how about that commercial for some hard apple cider or another, in which SirPat delivers the one word "FIRED????" with such gravitas and outrage that you just wanted to shovel money at the brewery.

Or was that just me?

Sucking up to Taylor Swift is to journalism as cutting brush is to Republican Presidents, an ostentatious and unconvincing display of authenticity.

Who is a journalist here? Patrick Stewart or the people who make "Ask Me Another" which is a puzzle/variety show?

THey work for NPR, a journalistic organization, so they are journalists, in my book.

NPR creates or distributes all kinds of programming that isn't journalistic, including multiple quiz shows, variety shows, and shows about car repair. Your book seems more motivated by a desire to do some drive by snarking than anything else.

That may be so. But the critical part of my thesis is the sucking up part. "Hey look everyone, we're just plain folks who like what's popular now!". I suppose you may retort that they actually do like it! Humbug.

I have to believe that Jonathan Coulton genuinely likes Taylor Swift. Come on.

He also read Beck's "Loser."

And here's the full episode (not including the clip just above, which was edited out).
