Is that ...

Is that Captain America in short shorts?

I had been noticing a lack of Jackson Publick playing Frank Chen, normal human. Clearly he was hard at work!

That didn't seem like the usual length of time between seasons. Go Team Venture!

I'm almost as excited about this as I am the new Star Wars trailer. Actually, maybe even more, because a Venture Bros. season has never broken my heart with its incompetence.

Harper ousted as Canadian PM and now this. My little heart can only handle so much excitement.

I used to love this show but fell away from it after season 4 was split up and then it disappeared for years. I guess I missed season 5 which Wikipedia says surfaced in 2013. Now here comes Season 6 two years later.

Why are they so bad at sticking to a regular schedule? I know the animation is hand-drawn which slows it down, but it's kind of ridiculous that there are years between seasons.

The show is basically the work of two people who do the bulk of the writing, music, and a big chunk of the voice acting. The fact that it comes out at all is astounding.

(James urbaniak follows me on Twitter, I don't know why, but I think everyone sold know that)!

But yeah the fact that so few cooks are in the kitchen means the show is such a personal, particular THING. It's own obsessions and aesthetics and interests are so ...personal? For a t show? About super spies and boy wonders?

Like I said, I jokingly call it Mad Men with Suoerheros but I'm only kind of joking.

And if they are going into Marvel-y stuff I can finally hope for my fever dream of a Jackson and Doc version of Agents Of Sheild.

I came to express exactly this. I also assume that was JG Thirlwell doing the trailer music. It was his scoring for VB that made me discover and get the entire FOETUS catalog going back to '83 (where I learned where Trent Reznor did much of his lifting--but that's another discussion).

One of the reasons I love the show so much is that, oddly for something which has more than one hand on the wheel, it is easily the most auteur thing on television short maybe of Louie.

Huzzah! Did y'all catch the bit where Shore Leave is dressed up in Brock Sampson drag?

I love this show so much. The little Race Bannon vignette in the Goliath serum episode, everything about Colonel Gentleman, the Grand Galactic Inquisitor....and the fact that the characters aren't just there for yuks, but all have motivations, story arcs, little kindnesses between them. Brock dotes on the boys, yet still finds the various demises of the clones funny. Billy and White, 24 and 21, all of it.

So if they're moving out of GI Joe and into Marvel...

Maltov Cocktease => Black Widow?

I mean, O.S.I. has more in common with S.H.I.E.L.D. than G.I.Joe, at least as far as how it is pretty much all about fighting a Guild of Calamitous Intent, which is a group of Super Villains who are so Lawful Evil that they have rules about arching.

Captain Sunshine? Wonder Boy? Heck, the original Team Venture. Action Man?

Or Dr. Orpheus?

Sorry, I love this show.
Oh, and if you didn't know, Adult Swim has a 24/7 stream of the Venture Brothers IN IT'S ENTIRETY that just streams a marathon of every episode AND the specials IN ORDER.

Go now. Watch it all. Again. And again.

This show is at its best when it curls up its own butt!

That's not the Rusty Venture, that's a Double Frogman.

A lesser show would have a man with a Sean Connery voice shouting "until you shpend in your own jacksie!" be the funniest thing in that scene, but Venture Bros is a show where that man is, at the same time, building a scale model of the USS Indianapolis with sharks eating sailors who have fallen overboard on the back of a patient but wearily put-upon dog.

That's one of those scenes where a long string of censor beeps is a hundred times funnier than the uncensored version could ever be.
