Operation 007

Are you a James Bond fan? You've seen every movie including unofficial ones like Never Say Never Again and the original 1967 Casino Royale? How about Operation 007 starring Lois Maxwell as Miss Moneypenny, Bernard Lee as "M" and... Neil Connery, Sean Connery's brother, as 007's brother... Neil Connery. The Italian production was also known as O.K. Connery. How good is the movie? So good that it it made into an episode of the much-loved Mystery Science Theater 3000.

You're forgetting The 1954 TV version of Casino Royale (and its long-lost missing ending).

Score by Ennio Morricone? Seriously? So amaze.

"Look the Hunt for Red October!"
"Hi Sean!"
"We've Installed the screen doors, sir!"

I haven't seen that since 1994.

If you have Amazon Prime then you can watch Operation 007 aka Operation Kid Brother for free:

No fair, the MST3K Club hasn't gotten to that one (episode 8 of season 5), yet. (We're scheduled to do episode 6 of season 4 tomorrow at 9PM Eastern: "Attack of the Giant Leeches" - Robin Leach not included)

Whoops, sorry, I'm guessing now you meant the original, non-mst3k version. My bad. Apologies.

The "Sean and Neal: Parallel Lives" skit is just BRUTAL.

Mst3k club did watch this one last christmas though, foop.

It wasn't canon, though, just our own personal war on christmas.

You all missed the joke here. The movie is titled "Operation Double 007".

CROW: You're ruining it for me!
JOEL: I know...

I enjoy this film even without the MST treatment--the soundtrack is a lot fun and Neil goes all over the place to have adventures, just like the Goonies! Plus Maxwell and Lee seem to keep the whole thing from running too far off the rails.

Better than Turkish Star Trek, but not as good as Italian Spiderman.

So, here's the inevitable question: Best Non-EON Bond?

Nelson?
Niven?
Allen?
Connery, S.?
Connery, N?

Of course, it's all complicated by the question, "If you include Neil Connery, do you also have to include Peter Sellers?" I personally don't think so, because Evelyn Tremble isn't even a Bond at all, while N. C.'S character is. and is it fair for S. C. to compete in both categories?

Even with all the caveats, I'm still going to have to say Niven is my favorite James Bond outside the EON canon.

Also, nobody's mentioned that the villain in this is Adolfo Celi, who played Largo in Thunderball. Sadly, I preferred his performance in Double 007.

But yeah, this movie's quite bad. In a fun way, at least.

As well as Moneypenny.

You all missed the joke here. The movie is titled "Operation Double 007" .

In the MST3K canon, that title is only surpassed by:
ATTACK OF THE
THE EYE CREATURES

"Best Non-EON Bond?"

I can;t answer that question truthfully without spoiling 1967's Casino Royale

Best Non-EON Bond?

Does nobody remember the deeply redundant (comedy relief to the former comedy relief players) character on The Lone Gunmen, the Series, Stephen Snedden as Jimmy Bond? Now THAT is non-canon.

Don't forget that George Lazenby was in Master Ninja II, transparently playing a James Bond type named Mallory.

I thought I was a Bond nerd until I read this foray into the alt-Bond nerdiverse. I am am mere piker. Le sigh.
