Peace Park 2015 Full Video
This year’s PEACE PARK offers elite riders a massive snowboard playground with endless new transitions and jumps including a half mile roller run, a 60 foot BBQ road gap, a quarter pipe measuring over 100 feet long and 22 feet high, a 22 foot bowl measuring 100 feet in diameter and more – all designed on Danny Davis’s terms. Built and filmed in the West Tetons of Wyoming, this year’s groundbreaking snowboard park is inspired by Danny’s creative vision and takes cues from skateboarding and surfing.

Afterglow is a pretty pretty advert film, but that Peace Park video makes me really want to go out snowboarding now. I suck at snowboarding, but when I had fun it was a wonderful feeling, and that video captures the easy feeling, so much lovely gliding along. Some nice tricks, but mostly I enjoyed that feeling of floating over the snow. (Also, because I suck at snowboarding, deep powder looks nice and all, but it scares me that I'll fall over and get swallowed up in a deep drift, but that's just me.)

I wonder why they didn't invite any female snowboarders to use the Peace Park?

It gets a bit tiring watching everyone spray about how it's all just about having a good time with your mates - with your private lodge, park, and chairlift. Hey, we ALL have a good times with our mates. If you're calling yourselves the best athletes in the world, get on with using your perks to do huge stylish tricks I can't even imagine, not filming yourselves drinking and jamming and bro-ing out in your bro club, which I can do myself just fine.

Once they start getting inverted though there's some amazing stuff. And I'm a big fan of the high-speed butter flip things in the pipe.

Secondly, it's quite a blinkered view, talking about the future of the sport in terms of young men freestyle riding in the park. From what I see, the future of the sport is being more inclusive of people of all ages and genders, and creating a well-rounded snowboarding universe. Unfortunately, with a few exceptions, the traditional snowboard brands seem to be doubling down on young men freestyle riding.

Disclaimer...I'm actually skier. But some of my best friends are snowboarders!

This is my own submission for the best ski/board movie I've seen recently.
