I went to one of these raves in the '90s. Near Milton Keynes I believe. One of my friends hired a Transit van and we were all squashed in the back for hours. Can't remember what it was called now, but it was very noisy and sweaty. My worst nightmare nowadays.

I love stuff like this. Thanks!

I hope some of these are free of hype men singing all over the place - that was one part of jungle rave culture I never dug.

Yeah, I never knew anyone who actually liked jungle MCs. So many mixtapes and live sets ruined by MCs who didn't know when to shut up.

The 92/93-era hardcore stuff is amazing. I am currently making some noise for the boys outside*.

*boys outside = the rozzers someone walking their dog, plus the guy who just got home from work taking in the bins

The funny thing is how much "rave" flyers haven't changed.

Great, of course, but I like to go back with the 808 State Radio Shows. Archive begins in 1990!

The right time for a fucking MC to shut up is when the DJ puts a record down.

I had a friend back in the day who'd happily collect bracelets from candy kids and then hurl them at MCs. Everyone approved. The only people who think MCs are a good idea are MCs.

Obligatory MC Effort skits:

Skimpy's drive-thru
The Docta

There's also "Massive Airlines" from The Envy, but I couldn't find that one online.
