The long life of the incredibly prolific Austrian artist Ernst Fuchs has come to an end.

He was influenced from an early age by Klimt and later hints of Dali which resuled in a rare interview.

Amazing work. I'm sad I hadn't heard of him before, and will definitely be looking up more about him.

Clever like a fuchs! What an artist's life! Amazing, he helped define the mythos of man and art, almost like Dürer.

I don’t think I knew anything about him personally, and didn’t realize he was still alive. I knew and loved his work and thought I had some on my computer, but when I looked I didn’t. Now I can’t figure out why I knew of him.

SF nerds of a particular vintage will recognize his work from Omni Magazine, where his paintings were frequently used as illustrations.

I love the intricacy of his mythological works, the detail and convolution of these phantasmagoric figures.

I also love how he was clearly an ass man.
