that story isn't written by tech writers at yahoo. it's a story taken from the reuters wire. yes, they missed the distinction between "web" and "internet." phil agre had a great discussion of this "issue" in his latest red rock eater news service missive. it's about 1/4 the way through the message.

There also have been reports of the "love bug virus," redundant but too attractive to pass up for writers. Bugs on computers for journalist are anything that's gone amiss: bad programming, virus, trojan horse, delayed shipping, crash, freeze, stall, incompatibility, having to upgrade, Windows.

At least they got the IRC part right. I read one report that said it could be spread through internet chat such as "ICQ".
