Because Silence is Not an Option: Naji Jerf, RIP.

"Syrian journalists who have fled to Turkey for their safety are not safe at all.": Naji Jerf was the editor-in-chief of the Syrian independent monthly Hentah and a documentary maker who worked with the collective Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS). Jerf also trained citizen journalists as part of his work with RBSS.

"He was always siding with justice and he never betrayed his people." More coverage here (NYTimes), here (Committee to Protect Journalists), and here (the Independent).

This is the documentary about life in Aleppo under Daesh made by Jerf. It isn't subtitled with English at the moment, but I hope it will be.

The twitter feed for RBSS.

RBSS site: "is a campaign launched by a group of non-violent activists in Raqqa to expose the atrocities committed by The regime of Bashar Al-Assad and terrorist extremist group ” the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ISIS toward the civilian populations if the city. We shed light on the overlooking of these atrocities by all parties. We are a nonpartisan and independent news page. We are not tied to any political or military group. We convey the truth objectively."

Well as Turkish journalists are not safe in Turkey either, especially when pointing out what the state is really up to in Syria then this does not surprise. At least Can Dündar was jailed and not murdered.

Adamvasco, I was going to link to the same story.

Turkey has been supporting ISIS with materiel, financial services, immigration, you name it. I can't believe that ISIS' operations within Turkey are a secret, or that's it's operating against Erdogan's wishes.
