Slo-mo Bobby Jindal is way too creepy for me.

I'm always tickled to be reminded of Joni Ernst's excellent impression of a robot 3rd grade teacher.

President Josiah Bartlet: Oh, Roger. If anything happened, you know what to do, right?
Secretary of Agriculture Roger Tribbey: I honestly hadn't thought about it, sir.
President Josiah Bartlet: First thing always is national security. Get your commanders together. Appoint Joint Chiefs, appoint a chairman. Take us to defcon 4. Have the governors send emergency delegates to Washington. The assistant Attorney General is going to be the Acting A.G. If he tells you he wants to bring out the National Guard, do what he tells you. You got a best friend?
Secretary of Agriculture Roger Tribbey: Yes, sir.
President Josiah Bartlet: Is he smarter than you?
Secretary of Agriculture Roger Tribbey: Yes, sir.
President Josiah Bartlet: Would you trust him with your life?
Secretary of Agriculture Roger Tribbey: Yes, sir.
President Josiah Bartlet: That's your chief of staff.

Young filmmakers should be fitted with shock collars that go off whenever they have the idea of doing "funny" Wes Anderson, David Lynch, or Werner Herzog "parodies."

Or just go off at random, that would be okay too.

Needed this today - and nthing how freaking weird it was to see Bobby Jindal slow-mo death glare me with an assassin's smile

Slo-mo Bobby Jindal is way too creepy for me.

Less like Wes, more like Kubrick circa elevator of blood.

However, I'm never tickled to be reminded of Joni Ernst

Making political ads is easy these days.

So this is for people who aren't presently smashing their heads into walls because our current political system has gone from "farce" to, whatever's worse than "farce"?

Needs approximately 36% more whimsy.

Aw, I dunno. I am 100% okay with SOTU tomfoolery.

Points for including Nico on the soundtrack.

My editor brain is firmly convinced that the correct spelling for that word is friscillating, and deeply irritated that the rest of the world disagrees.

Meanwhile, here was the official @BarackObama twitter promo for the State of the Union. As I've mentioned before, I think we're deep into POTUSDGAF territory and I'm kind of digging it.

I don't need any modification from the actual event. It's already a Coen brothers movie.

I read this as "Soviet Union" and was really confused for a second.

I was asking myself half-way in, "Where is the semi-obscure 60s rock nugget?" And then Nico came on.

Eh, it's all tomfoolery at CNN these days:

Not a fan of CNN, but I am a Wes Anderson fan and I have to admit this was pretty good. The super slow mo music to Bobby Jimdal cracked me up. They hit a lot of the right notes, but the Packers cell phone should have been perfectly lined up with the typewriter, not set at that "normal person" angle. Also, needed some Eric Anderson - style illustrations worked in there somewhere.

The Nico music cue is from the scene in Royal Tenenbaums when Margot gets off the bus.

That was Great until the crazy, jarring sloppiness of that cell phone by the typewriter. The living hell was that?
Also, Jindal was scary in a non-fun way.

Since Obama's an intelligent, principled man who probably wishes he accomplished more, that's pretty understandable.
